Playa del Carmen, Mexico
5 Stars  This place was Amazing
Ruins on the beach, Tulum
After being somewhat disappointed with Isla Mujeres, and knowing full well what Cancun and Playa del Carmen would be like, we moved on further south till we hit a laid back beach town called Tulum. And Tulum, my friends, is what Mexico is all about. The town is small and friendly, and the people are great, but the beach is really what blew us away. The whitest sand and bluest water we´ve ever seen. there are some mayan ruins on the cliffside overlooking the beach and we swam under them. one of the days we took a trip to some larger ruins deep in the jungle, near Coba, and hiked up the tallest of the pyramids. we were a little hung over from the night before, but it was fun nonetheless.

we made friends with a couple of mexican guys who were on holiday from mexico city. we spent a few days together, practicing our spanish while they worked on their english. we learned a ton, and managed to beat ¨equipo mexico¨ at just about every form of friendly competition we could think of.

we only planned on spending a day in tulum but that quickly turned into nearly a week. it was a sad day when we finally forced ourselves to move on.
