The city of Queretaro, a two and a half hour bus ride from Guanajuato, proved to be a better choice for a weekend away than San Miguel had been. The centre of the city is filled with historic buildings quite a few of which have been converted into inexpensive hotels (we paid US $45 for one night).
We walked around for hours, visited several local mercados, and listened to live music in the park and on street corners. We celebrated six months on the road at a beautiful and inexpensive Italian restaurant.
