Locarno is the most touristy town in Ticino. It is located in the shore of Lake Maggiore which is also shared with Italy. It is a charming town in its Italian style while part of a mountain landscape and lake. The scenery is pretty amazing. Locarno has more days of sunshine than any other region in Switzerland and the temperature is in average 3 ºC higher. The old town with 'piazzas', like the Piazza Grande, and arcades decorated with colourful flowers and subtropical gardens is magnificent and breathes a laidback ambience. The promenades by the lake are quite refreshing.
