Peoples Palace- 2nd largest building in the world

Wow, what a dive this place was. I couldn't get out of here fast enough. Rigth from when I stepped off the train I was harrased by touts and cabbies, and it was very hard to find my un-labelled hostel. I spent my one day walking around getting lost eveywhere. I did however take a tour of the people's palace there (the second largest building in the world, the Pentagon being the largest). It was quite an impressive building, and we got to stand on the balcony where in 1991 Michael Jackson stood infront of thousands of fans from Bucharest and shouted 'hello Budapest!'

Other than the huge commie-built boulevards and massive buildings, there was not much to see here. It took me hours of wandernig down dark streets and asking cabbies and shop-owners to help me find my stupid hostel.

It was a good thing I left the morning I did, because later that day much of the city flooded from heavy rains. That would just have been icing on the already rotten cake.
