Decided to drive up to Holland after work Friday to have a look at the Keukenhof spring gardens again. Eventually found a hotel near Schipol airport after trying I struck out on the first three we tried. ETAP hotels are very cheap and plain, all rooms are for up to three people and have ensuite+shower.
After a pretty average brekfast (what can you expect for 5 euros?) we spent the morning at Keukenhof. Compared to last year we were too early for almost all of the outside flowers (there was no tulips at all in the commercial farms around Lisse). Last year the indoor flowers included roses which were very nice, this year there was stickin' chrysies instead!! Still lots of nice tulips inside a worth a look. If we go again next year, it will be later in April or early May.
It was absolutely pouring down so we called the trip short. We spent a few hours in Scheveningen Casino, near Den Hague, before driving back home.
We were going to have a look around Utrecht Saturday but couldn't get a hotel there because 'the show was on'! Have to look at Utrecht next time.
