Hi Everyone!
I've just returned from a short city break in Amsterdam!!! I know it's not original and “far out there” enough for some of you more adventurous travellers, but it was amazing! I've done the whole year out, budget backpacking thing, and I still travel on a budget!! But I've finally managed to mix in some of the more 'high-end' luxuries into my travels! Anyway, I went to Amsterdam with Claire last week and she brought an Amsterdam Wallpaper City Guide, which was soooo good! It's perfect if you want to see what a city has to offer in 3/4 days. It's small enough to fit into a small handbag, so we weren't walking around with a clunky, bible-sized guide looking like tourists! The guide has short chapters on landmarks, 24hrs, urban life, architour, shopping, and a few more. We used the urban life and the 24hrs chapters the most. The urban life chapter was full of happening clubs, bars and cool eateries to go to and the 24hrs was great, as it was all about seeing the best of Amsterdam in just one day, which we did!!
We're off to Copenhagen in December, so (yes Claire) I'll be getting the Copenhagen Wallpaper City Guide for that! As far as city guides go, I'd say this is one of the best, if not, the best that's out there. The pictures are a great and the inside knowledge and recommendations packed into the guide is really current. Finally, the bright orange cover of the guide made it rather difficult to misplace! Brilliant! I can see a whole rainbow of guides developing on my shelf ;-).
I will post the photos up soon!
In the mean time, I can tell you that there are about 20 guides out at the moment (just under £5 each), and more are coming out next year. I’m looking forward to the Prague one! Here’s a link to the guides if you want to have a peek: http://www.phaidon.com/travel/
Well babes I’ll be back with more urban adventures soon!!
Lots of love,
Abi xx
