We went back to our favorite Tuscan town, Barga, to share it with my family. Each visit we learn something new, and there is something new to see. In this visit, the guests lunched on the terrace of a restaurant with sweeping views of the Tuscan landscape. Jean, Joe, Pat, and Steve loved the intimacy of Barga, it's preservation of the time period, and the wonderful views.
Also, there was a nice iron-works art exhibit at which I manage to nearly break my leg on and break the exhibit. I asked the artist to take my picture with his life-sized sculpture and as he was snapping the shot, I saw my #2 daughter taking off like a cat for the door. I jumped and I banged my shin on his precious artwork. The artist did a good job feining concern for my leg. But the shot you see here with Madeleine and I was 3 seconds after I left 1/2 my lower leg on his masterpiece. The smile on my face is a grimace.
In this trip, I found our highlight to be a wonderful play park for the kids. It was so beautiful, it was almost surreal. It was nestled 75 ft below the cobblestone road, surrounded by 400 yr old buildings and spectacular landscaping. There were many things for the kids to do, and we were the only people enjoying it. The kids had a blast while we waited for our family to finish their tasty lunch.
