member icon Agrigento, Italy - worth a quick stop

Agrigento, Italy
3 Stars  This place was Average
We did not actually visit the city, but we went to the Valle di Templi, the historical site right next to it, which is breathtaking upon first view. It reminded me a lot of seeing Mt. Saint Michel in Normandy for the first time--it looks surreal. There are five fairly intact Greek temples just sitting upon this one hill. It is worth an hour stop to walk around to them. The site is still being excavated in parts and the signage is terrible, but there is a fallen statue of Zeus and a few intact temples that make it worth it.
