One night we met up with Argie and Jim's friends, Tina and Rico, for dinner at one of the restaurants Tina and Rico own. Wonderful people and a fantastic restaurant. While we were there, several of their friends dropped by. One was a talent agent of some sort. Another guy was the editor of the Philippine Tattler (a glossy social/society magazine, not like the tabloid its name might suggest). Yet another guy was a Dutch guy who was establishing a culinary school for hotel and cruise ship chefs. Made for some interesting conversation.
After dinner, though, Argie suggested we drop by another place 'just for 10 minutes.' So Belle and I got in a van with Crazy Dutch Guy, Editor, and Agent to the Stars and were to meet the rest of the group at 'the place.' The Place was called The Embassy and was apparently THE place/nightclub to see and be seen. Those of you who know me will quickly realize that such a place is NOT my scene. But since we were escorted by our cast of interesting characters, there was no cover charge and we walked right in and into the VIP club room. Lovely. It was extremely loud and smoke-filled, though the people-watching was fascinating. We also met Tim Ya there, who was one of our hosts and is apparently an MTV personality in the Philippines. Crazy night. Lasted far too long for me, but certainly an interesting memory to take home with me!
