Me with a baby sea turtle!
We decided at the last minute to head to the islands that promised crystal clear diving so we could try out our new underwater housing. The trip was nice, and the island resort we stayed at was a nice quiet and private place- the only one on that particular beach, but we were disappointed to find the water very murky. Apparently they had a week of unseasonable storms before we got there that stirred everything up. The snorkeling was still fairly descent in front of the resort, and we did do two dives. We managed to get some good shots of the local sea life, and although it was very similar to diving we did in Thailand it was still enjoyable.
The resort was fairly nice too; the staff were great fun, and they had a pond with some baby sea turtles that had hatched on the beach out front- they were rearing them until they were a bit bigger in hopes it would increase their odds for survival. In the evenings we played a lot of cards, and we met a few nice couples; but after our few nights there we were a little sick of the limited menu. Overall we were glad we went but now we only have a few days to plan our trip to Borneo!
