Ptraci icon Kamakura, Japan - Enoshima

by Ptraci

Kamakura, Japan
After Kamakura, we headed for Enoshima, which is only a few stations away on the scenic Enoden Line (but doesn't exist on the travelpost map). Enoshima is actually a small island, famous for its beaches, joined to the mainland by a narrow causeway - and now a great big bridge as well. It was already dark by the time we got there, but the lights on the water and the lit shrine at the top were beautiful. We wandered up the main street and marvelled at the variety of sea food - a lot of it still alive - that was on sale for dinner. The great big purple squid being grilled whole over coal looked great!

After wandering around, and stopping in a coffee shop for a drink, we explored the shrine, which was peaceful and lovely in the dark.

We went home via Fujisawa, just to see what was there. More shops, but Machida is still better, I think!
