Hiroshima, Japan
4 Stars  This place was Great
EATING SUSHI AT A REST (ON CONVEYING BELT)
Himeji Castle- decided to visit on a recommendation. I had an early start because I had a few places to visit. I had booked my youth hostel in Hiroshima. Got to the castle with no problem. I met a japanese guy who volunteered to give me a guided tour of the place but couldn't speak english. He asked me if i had a boyfriend but couldn't work out why he was there. He just appeared from no where and started speaking to me. During the tour, he helped to carry my bag and was just a bit worried that he was after something more. He wasn't just Mr nice!. After the tour, he asked me if i was staying in Himeji and spoke broken english and i gathered that he wanted me to stay around. When I said i had to leave ASAP, he volunteered to give me a lift to the station which i refused. Before I went to the castle, I was able to empty my rucksack in the locker at the station. Life is made easy in Japan.

Miyajima- I arrived at Hiroshima with no problem. very famous place with foreigners and they have catered very well for tourist as well. Got the ferry to Miyajima Island. It is symbolised by a looming vermillion torii (Shinto gate) set in the sea which denotes the whole island is scared. It was an interesting place. Had a good walk round the Island.

Arrived back at Hiroshima and decided to have Kahetenzushi, a restaurant with sushi on conveying belt. It was a very good experience and the food was excellent as well.

I finally got to my hostel and it wa 10 minutes walk up the hill. I chatted to a few school kids, people seemed friendlier, happy to talk to foreigners. The hostel was govt run so it was very reasonable, the cheapest so far about 9 pounds for the night. I met an indian couple from south africa they had been to the expo 2005 in Nagoya and they recommended it. The husband had a passion for travelling and was well travelled, very nice people. Had tea with them before going to bed.

Bunk beds, lots of mosquitos but only 2 in the room.
