This place was Awful

After all the stories of problems with the airlines- crashes, drunk pilots, no navigation equipment; we were a little nervous about our flight here. The plane looked great from the outside, but it sure made some bad noises during the flight. We were both very glad to land safely here in Kupang.
The town itself was another disappointment. We asked at the airport how to get to Dili and they directed us to Timor Travel. We hired two guys to take us on their motorcycles as the taxi stand at the airport as usual was charging a ridiculous amount to get into town. We booked our bus ticket for early the next morning, then they offered to drop us off for free at a nearby hotel for the night. We struggled again to find something to eat. No one spoke english and the local food looked like it had been sitting out for a while. We managed to order a plate of plain rice and got them to fry up a few eggs to go with it. We can't wait to get to Australia so we can eat a descent meal!
