Jaisalmer, India
5 Stars  This place was Amazing
AJA!! I knew something special was waiting for me in this place.. was calling me.. I knew that in this place i will have a pause.. a silence.. and so it happened!!

As soon as we arrived you can see the magnificent fort of Jaisalmer on top of a hill in the middle of this Golden City. Golden for its peculiar color that comes from the sandstone they have used to build the whole city.

We stayed in a hostel outside the fort but with a great pool!! Exactly what you need in temperatures around 45 degrees!

The day after we started a tour around the dessert with camels for 2 days. The locals where waiting for us with 5 camels all packed with the necessary stuff and ready to start the adventure.

The landscape was amazing but no dunes as we imagined we had to wait for 5 hours ride to get there. But when the heat was reaching the 50 degrees we stopped under a tree to have a delicious spicy lunch prepared by the guides with potatoes and chapati (the indian tortillaa!!). And sleep and rested for a while, to start again in the afternoon to reach the dunes before sunset. And so we arrived just on time! the sun setting in a red marvelous big circle. Then a jeep arrived with cool beers and whiskey!? a surprise we couldnt reject after drinking only 40 degrees water!

So we had an amazing time there watching the stars at night sleeping over the sand.. waking up in the middle of the night to see more and more stars coming as the moon was gone.

The next morning early as we saw the sun rising we started earlier our trip back but this time.. not even the shadow of the tree could save you of the 50 degrees sun.

Finally back on Jaiselmer and after enjoying the pool we went inside the fort which has amazing walls and gates to enter, with a huge palace very well preserved and signposted, so we got more and idea of how the maharajas used to live on that time.. with lots of ornaments, pleasures, women, and money!! But on the other side inside the same fort are some of the most important Jain temples in India. Amazing architecture and details, with beautiful sculptures all around. Great proportions and very special vibe inside them.

Jaisalmer is the most important district of the Rajasthan, the men wear flouro orange turbans, with big moustaches and the ladys wear the most colorful dresses i have ever seen! so beautiful!! They have still old traditions from the desert people, and is a very interesting culture with a mix of religions.. without any problems between them. So good and so rich in this way, but poor, but happy.

Now we head to Bikaner to see the famous Palace there and the Rat Temple which is 30kms from there, then back to delhi!
