As this was our last stop in South East Asia I thought it would be interesting to share with everyone a few details I have been keeping track of along the way. Here is a short summary of the eleven or so months we spent getting to this point:
# of countries: 14
# of flights: 20
# of ferries: 27
# of trains: 12
# of dives: 32
Hours spent on busses: 324 (with 8 breakdowns)
# of books read: 29
Some notable things we have eaten: durian, bamboo, dragon fruit, ginger flowers, dried riverweed, frog, wild boar, water buffalo, possum, camel, snake, and we even licked the bum of a green ant! (very sour)
Some notable transportation: cable cars, longtail boats, Tuk-tuks, trishaws, cyclos, jeepneys, outriggers, a mining cart, a bobsled coaster, elephants, horses, and even a camel! to name a few...
and of course all the amazing sights that I have mentioned along the way. It has been quite a trip so far. We stayed in Asia longer than we had planned but we managed to make it to absolutely every country in SE Asia, and we feel like we have exlored it well enough to move on. Plus we are getting a little sick of eating rice and noodles!
